Lunugamvehara is located in the Monaragala district is a subway for Southern province and Sabaragamuwa Province. This operates as a sanctuary for wildlife around the Lunugamwehera reservoir. This park interconnects Yala National Park and Udawalawe Park, and this has become a great safari destination to spot elephants, making it their habitat. Apart from herds of elephants, you also can see many other mammals like Wild boar, spotted deer, Sambar Deer, Asian Palm civet, and many more aquatic birds. The best time to visit this national park is from November to January.
